Kilwa Inbound Team
The Kilwa Inbound Team will be based in a small town among a coastal Swahili people group on the Tanzania coast. Inbound is a one-year, team-based training and mentoring program designed to equip new missionaries with practical skills and knowledge for long-term cross-cultural life and ministry among unreached people groups. Led by an experienced missionary, Inbound prepares new full-term missionaries for service as well as providing a one-year missions exposure for short-termers interested in considering full-term work. The Kilwa Team will consist of 7-12 adults, and is open to singles, couples, and families with children. Team members must be able to live simply and be life-long learners. The team will focus on 5 key strategies: 1. Language learning - Our focus will be on the value of learning local language, and also of learning the skills for language acquisition. Each participant will learn Swahili to focus reaching certain milestones. 2. National Church Partnership - Team members will partner with a local church and serving the church body. The goal is that team members develop an appreciation and understanding of the national church. 3. Team growth – The team will learn how to work together and thrive as a team, cultivating the necessary personal and corporate disciplines for effective team ministry. 4. Culture/religion study – Each team member will pick a topic of study in their community and conduct research to write/record an ethnography about this subject and to share with their team. 5. Boundaries and healthy lifestyle – Team members will develop a plan that models a healthy lifestyle for sustainable full-term service. Learn more:

The vision of this ministry is to see a thriving, evangelistically-minded, Christ-centered church established amongst the unreached Alagwa people. Our team is a blend of AIM and AICT (Africa Inland Church Tanzania) personnel. By engaging in the culture, learning Alagwaisa, and participating in the community you would join the team in their incarnational witness model. Our joint goal is the establishment of Christ centred churches in our location. There will be ample opportunity to engage in local Bible study with seekers, and engage in discipleship either one-to-one or with families. There will be opportunities to use your gifts in the small local body of believers. There are also opportunities to build relationships locally through agricultural ministry, helping to build water tanks, or participating in the Jesus Film ministry. There are opportunities to help with the Bible translation project once language competency is reached. An undergraduate degree (Bachelor's) or higher is required for immigration purposes. Skills such as training in Bible translation, or TESL or TEFL, or a teaching background, or logistics/administration/financial skills, or Conservation Agriculture skills would be beneficial to the ministry but not required. We live in a mountainous, rural, farming community. We would be open to receiving new members as couples, singles or families in any combinations. You would have your own house, possibly shared with another team member. You will need to know how to cook for yourself. Houses provided are similar to local houses - tin roof, brick walls and concrete floor. Electricity is via solar panels and is limited but normally sufficient to charge phones and computers. Team members' houses are geographically spread widely across a couple of villages. The team lives simply. Locally available supplies and cooking ingredients are limited. There is no indoor plumbing, and water is from a rainwater collection tank.

AIM's ongoing outreach team working in various rural locations among the Ndau are looking for more Disciplers. Help strengthen local churches by: -Training and discipling local church leaders -Providing pastoral care and counseling The Ndau of Mozambique are an unreached animistic, polygamist people group who worship their ancestors through false prophets, mediums, and witch doctors and their respective ceremonies. This governs all of life: from birth to marriage, agriculture, livelihood, health, and death. This traditional worldview still influences the local churches. We would like to see local Ndau churches being led by competent local leaders, with a vision for evangelism and church planting - both within their own people group and beyond. Prior experience in church ministry and leadership training is required. New team members will attend Portuguese language school.

As part of this outreach, you'll serve among the highland shepherds of Lesotho, a group on the margins of society, helping to disciple believers and share the gospel through relational ministry and Bible storying. The small team is working to develop Christian leaders from among the shepherd community, equip them to take the gospel to other shepherds, to establish 'Shepherd Church' in whatever format works for them. They also work alongside local church leaders to help instill vision for the Shepherd ministry and mission beyond Lesotho's borders. One of the challenges in working with a transient community is discipleship, as it's often difficult to maintain contact with those who have committed their lives to Christ. The primary focus of this role will be working with existing Lesotho Unit members and shepherds to help develop a new audio 'Discipleship' story set, which will supplement the existing 'Gospel' story set that has been a key part of the ministry to date. Since many of the shepherds are illiterate, being able to communicate orally is often the only way to reach out to them. The stories are intended to be easily memorized so that they can be passed from shepherd to shepherd in the mountains. The new story set will include stories related to living out Christian principles, discipleship, and how to share the gospel with others. There will be regular opportunities for 1:1 discipleship and mentoring with the shepherds in the mountains, surrounding villages, and in church settings. The team works to model how to share the gospel to enable shepherds and church leaders to see and replicate this process in a culturally appropriate manner. We're seeking self-motivated individuals with strong Bible-based teaching ability and the ability to feed oneself spiritually in an isolated ministry location; those with a willingness to meet the shepherds where they are and draw alongside them; flexible individuals with the ability to work alone at times or to collaborate and work under the direction of others in the unit and with nationals who have experience in storying and ministering to shepherds, and those with the ability to cope with often challenging physical conditions in this remote rural setting.
