Discipleship Trainer at Dukana
Dukana Ministry is an outreach that began with the 20,000 unreached Gabra people around Dukana Town and reaches out to all the unreached tribes of Northern Kenya. Dukana lies within the northern reaches of the Dib Golla (desolate plain) which is a large lava flat about 200 kilometres northwest of Marsabit town in Northern Kenya. Dukana Town is one of the main hubs of trade for the Gabra pastoralists. We desire that the person filling this specific role be willing to pour themselves into 5 or 6 Gabra evangelists, encouraging, mentoring and training them so that they can effectively evangelize and disciple the Gabra people. Once these evangelists are discipling people effectively, it will result in stronger, more mature believers and a Christ-centered Gabra Church. We are looking for a missionary who has prior experience in cross-cultural outreach and disciple-making with previous Africa experience being desired, though not required. Elementary proficiency in Swahili would be useful as it is the national language and will easily facilitate conversations and getting around. However, Gabra is the heart language and, even though there may be translators available, working towards speaking in Gabra at an elementary proficiency level will be desired and very useful.
