You'll serve as part of small team working among the Gabbra people of Dukana in Northern Kenya. The ministry in this remote rural location includes outreach and discipleship, radio ministry, vehicle maintenance and repair, and the Village of Hope - a ministry to outcast women. In this role, you'll contribute to the vision of a strong Gabbra church in Dukana and surrounding areas by offering building and technical support to the ongoing outreach and discipleship ministries. You'll have opportunities for discipleship as you train local believers in technical and building skills. While this role focuses primarily on technical work, it offers a great opportunity to mentor believers and potential future church leaders, one-on-one training, evangelism and mentoring with local tradesmen, language helpers, and station staff. The team holds a Bible study every week, which you'll help lead, and there are opportunities throughout the day to have conversations about Christ. There is a need for running youth programs and activities and helping the evangelists on outreaches after work hours and on weekends. We're looking for someone who easily gets along with people, with strong relationship building skills, and an attitude of life-long learning. Swahili is a helpful language to learn as it is the national language of Kenya and can help one get around almost anywhere! However, in Dukana, Gabbra is the heart language, and a Gabbra language helper/translator can be provided for the early phases of ministry.
