RVA Spiritual Life Team – Campus Chaplain

As Campus Chaplin, you'll serve as part of the Rift Valley Academy (RVA) Spiritual Life Team, working to actively present the gospel and provide opportunities for individuals to grow in Christ at this school of 500 students.

The Spiritual Life Team works together to set direction and implement Spiritual Life activities through programming and relationships with both staff and students.

Specific responsibilities are shared, but each member will have one or two emphases based on their skills, giftings, and the needs of the team. These emphases include: staff women, staff men, male students, female students or music ministry.

Major Tasks as a Team:

1. Pastoral care to staff and students. Monitoring RVA's spiritual climate and encouraging personal spiritual growth and healthy relationships among RVA staff and students. Providing emotional and spiritual support of RVA staff and students by providing pastoral care.

2. Planning and executing Sunday morning worship services, baptismal services, communion services. Ensuring that God's Word remains central and is handled accurately.

3. Student ministry activities - set vision, appoint staff leaders, oversee and provide resources and accountability.

Campus chaplains will have daily opportunities to share biblical truth through campus interactions. The role includes both public teaching and small group work.

Other opportunities may include: teaching Sunday School, Bible classes, mentoring and discipleship of staff or students, and sharing the gospel in the local community on outreach days.

Experience:
Required: Pastoral ministry experience or member care experience
Desired: Overseas experience, youth ministry, senior or associate pastoral ministry experience.

Training & Qualifications:
Required: Biblical studies with a strong ability to handle God's Word accurately and clearly.
Desired: Conflict resolution/mediation.

Must be able to connect with both adults and students when teaching God's Word. Team player. High value for confidentiality. Work well in a largely youth, multi-denominational, multi-racial and multi-ethnic community.
