Opportunities to serve

Kilwa Inbound Team
Full Term, Short Term
Tanzania

The Kilwa Inbound Team will be based in a small town among a coastal Swahili people group on the Tanzania coast.

Inbound is a one-year, team-based training and mentoring program designed to equip new missionaries with practical skills and knowledge for long-term cross-cultural life and ministry among unreached people groups. Led by an experienced missionary, Inbound prepares new full-term missionaries for service as well as providing a one-year missions exposure for short-termers interested in considering full-term work.

The Kilwa Team will consist of 7-12 adults, and is open to singles, couples, and families with children. Team members must be able to live simply and be life-long learners.

The team will focus on 5 key strategies:

1. Language learning - Our focus will be on the value of learning local language, and also of learning the skills for language acquisition. Each participant will learn Swahili to focus reaching certain milestones.

2. National Church Partnership - Team members will partner with a local church and serving the church body. The goal is that team members develop an appreciation and understanding of the national church.

3. Team growth – The team will learn how to work together and thrive as a team, cultivating the necessary personal and corporate disciplines for effective team ministry.

4. Culture/religion study – Each team member will pick a topic of study in their community and conduct research to write/record an ethnography about this subject and to share with their team.

5. Boundaries and healthy lifestyle – Team members will develop a plan that models a healthy lifestyle for sustainable full-term service.
